Friday is for flying ...

Things have improved a bit since the last post. Ayden had his first flying lesson today! So exciting.

This week Ayden also had to appeal at school to skip Year 11 Geography and go into Yr 12. A process that had to involve his English teacher, History teacher, House teacher and Head of Geography to support him to the Head of Senior School. A big process that occurred unfortunately as Ayden missed the required B+ in English by 3 marks. All sorted though. Tough school.
A secret project is finished... this part of it anyway.
And, please visit Corrie at Retro Mummy to enter the giveaway for fat quarters of Rosalie Quinlans new line of fabric. If I won't win it, maybe you will! Beautiful. So is the giveaway at Bianca's!

Just remember ...

* Not to iron the nylon ribbon on your secret santa gift before you package it up for posting.. I might be a couple of days late ... sorry

* Text while walking around a small plane hanger and walk straight into a wing..

* Let your teenage child "register" a computer game online ... then it downloads your last internet allowance for the month

* Tell people how you got that big cut on your forehead because they laugh and laugh and laugh

* and take a big breath, because Ayden passed his learner drivers test and now he is eying off the car...

Happy Birthday Ayden... 16!

Last week it was all like this. Exam after exam and a full on work schedule for the casual job

Then off to the first flying lesson today, but not getting up in the air until next week due to the shocking weather. Yes, that's the plane Ayden will be learning in!

Happy 16th Birthday Ayden. I think it's going to be another fantastic year x.

Ready for the Robots..

I have been quietly stashing up these very cute fabrics, ready for another magazine project.

Tomorrow is a day off work for Ballarat Cup Day, and it's my very favorite holiday ... because the kids don't get it. They are all off at school and creche, except Ayden who has an exam in the afternoon, but I will be shoving him out the door to "revise". A day off for me!!!

I've got a new rotary cutter blade ready to go.

Around the Block November - Lynn's Blocks

Lynn sent out her fabrics in October for the Around the Block Quilting Bee, with the theme of zig zags. We were able to add matching solids that would tone into the Wonderland fabric, and blocks had to finish 15.5" sqaure.

Lots of maths was needed to make these two blocks :), a wonky strips zig zag and a block using half square triangles. There have been a lot of variation on these blocks within the group, and Lynn's quilt should look amazing!
And, there is a giveaway not to be missed - the Mega Make it Perfect Giveaway. Toni has the best prizes up for offer. As I already have most of Toni's patterns and I am lucky enough to be a pattern tester, I thought I had better not enter, but please check out what Toni is up to!

Off to Finland ..

I was so happy to hear today that my stitchers angel package had arrived in Finland at Jeanette's home!

Unfortunately my photo's were very quick but Jeanette's are much better on her lovely blog. I had the hint that Jeanette likes dark red, and luckily ... polka dots!

For Jeanette I made Nelly's Sewing Bag and Bug in a Bag Ladybug pincushion, designed by Rosalie Quinlan, and the needle case designed by Cinderberry Stitches. My sneak peek at my stippling was to be a sewing machine mat (or mini quilt). I love that Jeanette has filled her bag with her knitting already :)

Thanks again Helen for organising the swap. Heaps of fun again in 2009.

Teasers ...

First is another little peek of my upcoming project in Homespun. Off in the post in August, and instructions and profile are all approved now, and in print in February. Just in time for my Grandma to see when she arrives back in Australia for another visit after cancer surgery.

Next, Ayden and I have been lucky enough to be selected to review a lighting sample each for our study and sewing spaces. Great timing Maree, lamps ready for exam week!

And can you guess what I would like to make from my exploding tub of tiny scraps?
