Bubbles ...

Over the weekend I managed a bit of time with the sewing machine. I worked on Bubbles, this very sweet unicorn designed by Melly & me, who will be a christening gift.

Maya had a great time at the wildlife park for her birthday. Very brave feeding the wallabies with the boys. Cute!

Big Bunny ...

I've been carting around the fabric for this bunny since May, with good intentions to make this large bunny to sit on Maya's bed. The pattern was in Australian Homespun magazine 7.11 as Nursery Bunny by Amanda Albert. I've used pincord instead of velveteen as I couldn't find it in the right colour. It was a pretty good alternative and I have embroidered eyes instead of buttons.

Maya has dressed and undressed the bunny heaps of times and she is pretending to drive a bus with the bunny now, dressed down to the petticoat. Yep, that's a 000 babies cardigan the bunny is wearing and she is about 75 cm tall and a 4 year old can squish her head. Oh, and it was footy day at creche today too.

Happiness times Four .. Happy Birthday Maya!

I have never seen a happier little girl! It's Maya's birthday and she is four. She hasn't sat still, singing and laughing, yelling and chatting. Birthday cake at creche this morning, off for hot chocolate at the coffee shop with her dad for a treat.

Happy birthday our Maya! Have lots of fun being four xxxx

Dollies clothes ...

I wanted to make some clothes for a handmade gift (bunny) to wear for Maya's birthday. When I started I thought that the patterns were cute, but more for show. Half the joy for a little girl is taking them on and off.

So for Maya's nearly four year old fingers, a frilly petticoat with pink tulle layered inside, white bloomers, a pink spotted skirt and an apron. I've bought a matching babies cardigan from Target too. Just a matching jacket to make but I think I might have run out of time. stitch stitch stitch..

Guess who?

It's been fantastic to see so many new blogs from my giveaway. Thank you for entering and the lovely comments!

And two runners up are Jilly's Space and Jantine. Please email your snail mail addresses. The runners up will receive a little something made by me.

My craftiness this weekend has been pretty limited due to sulking about the football, replacing our washing machine and gardening. I have been working on some fiddly dolls clothes for a gift for Maya for her birthday this week, but they are still a work in progress.

The photo's is one that Ayden has taken and entered into a newspaper competition showing a Ballarat landscape. He has his fingers crossed!

Starry Serenade Stitchery ..

I've been stitching this very sweet embroidery this week. Designed by Claire from Loobylu and available as a free download here. I reduced the size by maybe a third and have plans to make it into a little bucket for Maya's bits and pieces and use a few cute scraps to make it. Just love it!

Shhhh ... it's a giveaway

Would you like this small quilt, designed by Bareroots and stitched by me? I've enjoyed making it, just stitching the border took me nearly 2 weeks. It is embroidered, and hand quilted and measures 23" square.

Just leave a comment on this post and I will pick a winner on Sunday 20th September at lunch time. Please, please remember that I am not perfect, that I made this for the enjoyment of creating it, and the pleasure of choosing fabrics and threads. Thanks again bloggers for reading my blog x

wip .. Matryoshka Quilt by Rosalie Quinlan

For the past few weeks I have been working on this cute Matryoshka Quilt designed by Rosalie Quinlan as a sample for Ballarat Patchwork. The poor sewing machine has been packed up for well over a week and it was great to get it out and start putting the blocks together. The first four rows are done!

Each evening last week I appliqued around the dolls. The visofix I used was a bit think with the linen, and I looked very sophisticated with a finger wrapped in sticky tape to proctect it from the needle. Must find a thimble I can use .... silly me.

Off to cook dinner a nice dinner for Fathers Day xx

I am a Homespun hog...

I have to admit it.. I was flicking though Homespun from back to front, as you do, and saw famous Katy from I'm a Ginger Monkeys Quilt and cushion that she made for her little boy, using the applique from one of my designs

And then over the page, was my cushion I made for Maree from On my Verandah for her Redwork Cushion swap. Homespun had asked me for a pic ages ago, and here it is! Maree from Farmyard Crafts has a pic in there too!

I'll be back soon to show you what I have been working on ... after the big birthday party tomorrow for Kane.

Life is pretty good when you are 7 and birthdays manage to go on for a week!
