Blocks for Badskirt Amy ~ Around the Block

This months Around the Block was a double month, with Amy also sending out a very cute package. Honestly, I couldn't believe my luck with a red and aqua theme and some japanese fabrics that I have never seen before.

Amy's theme was a "teeny, weeny village" and the image had to fit inside a 5" square to be finished into a 7" block. What did challenge me was the "less is more" preference as I usually go a bit overboard with detail.

I managed these three little blocks, with of course ... a monkey house!

Quietly stitching away ...

This week I have been quietly working away. I've finally finished my Robot design .. now which magazine to submit it to?

Around the block for February, pink bordered blocks for Donna's daughters fifth birthday quilt with Dear Jane as an inspiration.

And this stitchery, for all those (many, many) moments when I just need to stitch. A free block of the month from Bronwyn Hayes of Red Brolly called Catalicious. I am working these stitcheries at 75% of the full size. Maya is begging for a cat quilt now.

Have you seen Homespun 11.2

I think you could nearly call Homespun 11.2, Issue 81 the Bloggers Issue! On the front cover, my crafty friend Kathryn with her Russian Belles quilt, a Wonderland quilt from Kate at Two Little Banshees, Darrius the Dragon from Picklesticks and much more.

Photo from Australian Homespun Magazine
And my project inside, and a profile too.... if you would like to read about me.
Thanks Homespun Team!

Shearwater Kaftan - Make it Perfect Pattern

I'm very lucky to be a pattern tester for Make it Perfect. This week Toni released the pattern, the Shearwater Kaftan. Sorry about my pic, but a thunderstorm is on its way, but I wanted to give everyone the chance to win this pattern.

Because I was just testing the pattern, I have used fabric from my stash that I was not too worried about, so it is definately not as cute as Toni's version! I just love this pattern, with two neck variations, side splits, a tab on each sleeve so that you can wear the sleeves up or down, and a slightly fitted shape. I've worn this top to the pool and it is great to toss on over the bathers. I've recently bought some polycotton with a bit of stretch to make a version to wear with jeans.

There is a chance to win this pattern (and some great pics) here. Entries are drawn on 12 February. Good luck!

Distractions ...

Recently I have needed a few distractions... little bear stitchery from One Red Robin, as a free download, and cute, cute fabric on sale from Amy at Badskirt. Just love it Amy!

Spider from Kane. Pest.

Um, I saw myself in Homespun Magazine today. I am very nervous about you seeing me, project, no worries, profile and pic, scary.

small things ... super powers

Unlike Maya, I have no Super Powers or Super Skills. However I am going to say to everyone, and hope that you will say it to everyone too, to check for breast cancer.

In memory of our sister in law Sue, who lost her short battle this week, who was a wife and mother of two, a loved family member and a friend to so many. We stood at her funeral yesterday, along with hundreds of mourners to remember her life, as she wanted, with happiness. Sue, 3 September 1966 - 1 February 2010. xx
