It's Autumn ~ Girls Skirt and Applique Tutorial

Here it is, my second tutorial for Quilt Fabric Delights. Maya is wearing a sweet little skirt made from pinwale corduroy from Kokka that can be made with around 90 cm of fabric. To download the tutorial and see what else the QFD's Creative Team have been up to, visit Sarah here.

How about adding QFD to your sidebar so everyone can see the free tutorials that will be released each month? I hear there are prizes coming soon too...

Do I need distractions?

One of my favourite sewing distractions is pattern testing. I just love being sent through a pattern that I have never seen before, and to try out fabric for a different look and gain new skills as I work through them. Then give my handy feedback :)

I am just so lucky to test patterns for Toni at Make it Perfect. Just look at the "thank you" bundle that Toni recently sent! If you check Toni's blog you can see all the variations on the zippered purse that she has made - so far, with a tutorial to come. Now I am just wondering if I take all of this haul to Sewjourn to show off, or just some of it? Thanks Toni!

Should I be admitting this? I, um, joined Ravelry. This short sleeved cardigan is on the go for Maya. Cute and seamless and easy... knitting from the neck down, and I did all that last night..

Ready to stitch and stitch ...

It's pretty busy at the monkey house... and the "real job". I'm off to plant trees with the Victorian Premier tomorrow. Lets hope I don't say anything silly or trip over my own feet as I often do :)

A little peek at my tutorial in progress for Quilt Fabric Delights. I am soooo looking forward tonight to open up these beautiful Cottage Garden Threads that Sarah sent down and start on the stitchery.

Oh Boy ..

Did you guess what I was making from the last post? Here is where I am up to... a dinosaur project using mostly "Boy Oh Boy" fabrics.

Today we have been off to enjoy my nephew Nate's second birthday and a plant show on the way back. A big, big day but Maya had the pleasure of sitting down with two guinea pigs for company and patted them for ages. I think it was love.

And tonight, a bit of test sewing for the worst-kept-secret-in-blogland. Just loving this one, but no sharing sorry!

Crunch crunch ...

Happy Easter! I hope it was a lovely day. Did you get any sewing done? I did ... hint hint.

Don't get your fingers bitten!

Have you tried quilting like this?

I've finished testing my own patterns for a change! I thought you might like to see my machine quilting. I'm not great at stippling ... I've tried. A happy medium for me is quilting using my walking foot and selecting a decorative stitch on my sewing machine.

My robot quilt has been quilted this way too... not long until it's posted off to Homespun Magazine for the October Kids Special issue.
