Icre Cream Social Sewalong

We were off to the park this afternoon for a bit of a play and a bit of modelling from Maya and Kane.

So we took a few pics in the Ice Cream top from the Oliver + S pattern. A very sweet pattern that comes together fairly quickly with enough detail to keep it interesting, which is what I love about Oliver + S patterns. I made this version, view C, in size 5 but I have added an extra band along the bottom. As it's winter now and Maya turns 5 in September, I thought it was worth it for a bit of extra wear. Thanks so much Amy for the tutorials and sewalong

15 minutes later Maya fell in a huge puddle and soaked herself from the thighs down .. luckily I have changed her into a hoodie a few minutes before ..

Haul ...

It's taken a bit of time to get the pics of my birthday gifts to myself up on the blog. I've picked out a great haul of fabric from Quilt Fabric Delights, with a few of those picked for summer clothes for Maya.

For me, Nikki's new Panel Bag Pattern and some hardware. I have great plans to make this up for a national corporate team meeting for work in a couple of weeks.

I thought this book would also go well in the collection, Design it Yourself Clothes by Cal Patch

Matt and the kids bought me a new Nikon point and shoot camera that I am also pretty excited about. I have the best intentions to read the manual and learn heaps, but I have taken it to the kids swimming lessons twice and have not made it very far at all.

And Ayden's braces came off - hooray!

Can I say it out loud?

Can I? I turned ..... 38 on Monday. A crazy day with lots of cake, messages, phone calls, texts and notes on facebook. Thanks! Oh, it was such a shame to have to go to work. I'll share the beautiful pile of fabric, a pattern and a book that I bought to make myself feel better .. I mean celebrate.

Because I am running so behind I thought I could show where I am up to on the Ice Cream Social Sew-a-long. Lots of inspiration. Yoke stage finished on the Oliver + S Icecream Dress.

Thanks for hosting Amy and Kate!

Maya on Sew Mama Sew ..

Have you been to Sew Mama Sew today for a look at what's new?

It's my review for the new Modkids "Maya" pattern .... modelled by Maya of course!

Maya wore this dress to creche today, she just loves it so much, and I had so many compliments about it. Cute and easy to make pattern!

Around the block ~ For Annie and Becky

Okay, it's my first go at making a mosaic and I've got a bit to learn...

This weekend it's been miserable at wet, so wet that I have caught up on some sewing and Matt has been cooking. Nice! I don't think I have been late for Around the Block month before and I hate to miss deadlines, so I am very happy to have completed these blocks for Annie and Becky.

The top two blocks are for Annie's circle theme. Black fabric is a challenge for me, and circles something a bit different. I ended up tea dying the fabric on the flying geese block after a small disaster and no having any more of Annies backgound fabric. Can't wait to see your quilt Annie!

Becky requested wonky blocks for her little boy's big bed - when he gets there. I love making wonky blocks and it was such a shame to have to wait to start on these. The theme was wonky, quirky and fun. More to see on Around the Block here.

Missing in (stitching) action ..

Sorry, that's me. Unfortunately it hasn't just been stitching action with all the quarterly and end of financial year reporting for the real job, and the kids here there and everywhere for the school holidays. A fair bit of time too, has been on the QFD Christmas in July site, checking the daily Christams themed projects.. still time to join!

A few little sneaks of my projects ...
I have also been making this pattern for a review on Sew Mama Sew in a couple of weeks. How could I resist this one! Clever Modkids .. calling a pattern Maya.... but tricking me into some stretch sewing!
