Meet our 5 year old, Maya ...

Who could believe it,  but Maya turned 5 yesterday.  Such a big preschooler now.  Maya was born on AFL Grand Final Day and it's school holidays now too,  so yesterday was a quiet day at creche and footy day too.

Because it was our last ever birthday cake at creche, the 19th birthday that the kids have celebrated at creche and the 19th cake Jenny the Cook has made for the kids over the past 16 years, Maya could pick the colour - pink!  All the kids from the centre came into her room to celebrate and have lunch.  As it was footy day it was hot dogs and pies and a lot of tomato sauce.  Home after lunch to have a play with the new toys and her choice of dinner.

Maya had a great day,  and she still loves playdough.  I couldn't resist this blog pic back when  Maya was two.  Next year she will be my school girl.  Enjoy every minute of being 5!
** edit for overseas readers.  Our state of Victoria, Australia is taken over this weekend for the Australia Rules Grand Final.  Footy Day is where the kids dress up in their favorite team colours (Western Bulldogs for us) and eat traditional football food - meat pies and hot dogs. Maya being born on Grand Final Day means she will never be able to have her party on her birthday - its a day of celebration, hiding if you don't like football, barbecues and drinking and it's pretty hard to find a park at the supermarket too.

Finding the time..

This week has been huge. The boys school takes an extra week of school holidays in September so we are now about to start the second week of holidays when most Victorian schools are starting their first. If only work wasn't so frantic.. Callum and Kane spent a couple of days with their grandma and I worked until 11 pm. The rest of the week they have been my helpers :) and Ayden tells me he has done 34 hours this week at the casual job.

Sorry I haven't posted!

I've grabbed a pic from the Archives, and this is one of the patterns I designed for Quilt Fabric Delights Christmas in July, along with the Three Wishes Gift Bags. I was lucky enought to have Becky write a review on the Three Wishes Gift Bags here - check out Becky's cute version of the Santa bag!

The sewing machine has been packed away for a few weeks, but I dragged the poor thing out today. I also unpacked my projects from Sewjourn from back in May and finished off a quilt top for a potential magazine project. Hooray! Now just the matching cushion to make, and the quilting and binding and maybe a sneak peek. It was so nice to sew!

Stitch.. stitch..

Thanks everyone who commented on the Lions cushion, and the randomly drawn winner is .. Bree, who will be emailed unless she gets in first! I hope the cushion makes a lovely gift for your friends babies Bree.

Another thank you to all the people who have bought the Three Wishes Gift Bags pattern. Just so exciting to release a pattern here on my blog and I hope to see a few around too. If you have any questions on it, please, please don't hesitate to ask.

Maya has been asking me about her "kitten quilt" so I have been stitching away on these free blocks from Red Brolley. 7 are completed now and Maya has enjoyed colouring in the patterns after I have finished the embroidery. I'll trim them all to 6" when I have completed them all.

My poor sewing machine has cobwebs ... seriously! Fingers crossed I fix that on the weekend.

Three Wishes Gift Bags ~ My First Pattern Release!

Hooray! I'm finally releasing one of my patterns as a PDF download.... and just AUD $4.00 to start you on your Christmas stitching. There are 3 stichery designs in the pattern and as you can see, you can dress the gift bags up with some trim and a few buttons. Great for teachers, carers and friends. The stitcheries would look cute framed or sewn together with Christmas fabric to make a sweet table runner and verigated thread gives them a festive look too.

Each finished bag measures approximately 9" x 8.5", big enough for a nice box of chocolates. And handy too, if like me, you hate wrapping but love to sew!

At the bottom of the blog there is a larger pic of the bags, and to the right, you can buy through paypal. I'll email the pattern to you asap when you buy.
