Little cats ...

Still stitching away at Maya's cat quilt,  using the free blocks from Red Brolly.  I think these two are my favourite and they are small filler blocks.  Hoping for time to trace the final large block tonight and then work out a layout for them all.  Back to collecting scraps for the quilt too!

Bloggers Quilt Festival 2010 ~ Love and Kissez

For the Bloggers Quilt Festival I think I have picked the most difficult quilt to photograph,  but it's one of my favorites.  The quilt comes from a pattern called Sealed with Love and Kissez by Jan Mullen from Stargazy Quilts,  and most of the fabrics are designed by Jan too.  I made this quilt in 2005 when I was pregnant with Maya.   This was the first "girls" quilt that I had made.  I love wonkiness and improvised blocks and most of it was pieced late at night with a bit of a difficult pregnancy.

The kids love this quilt and its out everyday.  The barbie bucket is tipped out regularly on it and so are the tubs of lego.

My Creative Space ~ Fabric for Boys

Just love seeing fabric for boys.  This design is "Boys will be boys" by David Walker.   I'm promising myself that I will finish off a few things before we go off to Sewjourn again,  but my head is racing with ideas!

The First Popover Dress for 2010..

A few weeks ago I started making summer clothes for Maya.  It's been a bit cold so today was the first time she wore her new dress.  This was the first, of most likely a few Oliver + S Popover Sundresses - a free download here.  Just the perfect dress for wearing to creche,  back home for a play,  then over bathers on the way to swimming lessons.  And for catching ladybugs of course!

Maya has been choosing a lot of blue to wear lately,  just like her hairclip she picked out from the Buninyong Makers Market on the weekend.   Great stalls Annie and Kathryn!

Toni's Big Reveal ... THE BOOK!

Have you been to see Toni today and seen her big reveal .. The Make it Perfect Book!   I've picked out some of the pics from patterns I have tested.  More to show later.

It was over a year ago when I started pattern testing for Toni for this book.  Toni had a new two month old baby, plus her two preschoolers, building a house, and I couldn't believe how she did it.   Maya was only three in these photo's. Cute T-shirt dresses! These were perfect for last summer,  quick to make and dress up with a bit of trim.

Maya loves these shorts.  The design is for boys shorts and they are reversible with a raw edge applique of a shark.  They have pockets on the back.  These shorts reverse to make a blue pair with stripey pockets and shark applique.  Two outfits in one.

This top is definately one of my favorites,  and I will be making up another one for this year.  It is the Butterscotch top,  and similar to the ladies Shearwater Kaftan.  Just perfect for a day at the beach.  Maya had turned four by the time this pic was taken. My first go at making a placket and this one turned out perfectly.

Slippers for the family.  Girls and boys slippers shown here,  and there is also a variation for ladies.  Maya and Kane just love these,  and I love my little selvage tags at the back.

The Make it Perfect book has 21 easy patterns for women and children.  Yes,  I was well dressed too.   Have a look at Toni's blog for more pics and visit the other pattern testers to see their versions too.

Crosses for Kate ..

For Around the Block II,  everyone is sending out their packages up front,  and we can select a package a month to stitch.

For my first month I have chosen Kate from Two Little Banshees blocks.  Kate picked crosses - any style,  a range of sizes and pretty fabric.  Mine all finished 6.5" square.  I just love sewing improvised blocks!

Pretty pleased these worked out because I think I have totally mucked up a placket on an Ottobre shirt I am making Maya.  It's gone into the too hard basket so I can have a bit of a think about it,  either try something that I know how to do from a Make it Perfect pattern or turn it into a button band.

Did I say I would finish some things ..

I did!  Those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile will know how much I love my fabric scraps.  I do just love them.  For Around the Block II  I was pretty sure that I would be able to use just my fabric stash,  plus some white sashing fabric to put together my packs.  It took ages to sort out my prettiest fabric pieces and find scraps larger than 3" wide,  iron and collate them.  It nearly broke my heart cutting some them in pieces too.   I hope they make beautiful butterfly fabrics for the group to sew.

This quilt has been quilting and the binding hand sewn down.  So pleased it is done and nearly ready to photograph.

Some summer clothing has been finished for Maya too and a tutorial finished and submitted.   Now what should I work on tonight ...

Homespun Project ~ Space Dreams ..

It's great to be able to show you one of the secret projects I was working on earlier in the year.  Out now in Homepun Magazine,  and beautifully styled as always,  is my design "Space Dreams"

Space Dreams is an easy sampler style baby quilt,  which is a quick project for an experienced sewer,  or a great project to start with.  There is also a matching "Blast Off" stitchery cushion included in the magazine.

Yay.  Homespun have done such a great job with it,  and it's lovely to see in print.  Now... must start writing up the pattern for the next project for Homespun ...

Fingers crossed for this weekend.  I'm hoping to finish off a few projects that are on the go.  We might even have some sunshine for some nice pics too!

Sneeky Peak .. Digby the dog and ...

Oh, have you missed me?  Unfortunately the "Real Job" has had me pretty busy again and its end of quarter reporting time and mixed with school holidays adds up to some late nights and not a lot of craftiness.

The kids went back to school today,  and the last major report was finished late last night.  Hoooray!  Time for a little sneak peak of a new design,  maybe a magazine project...

Homespun 11.10,  The Kids Special is released today too,  have a look at page 75 for the Space Dreams ... more to show you soon!
